Hello was wondering if I could pick your knowledgable brains. I have recently perchased a 180 litre tank upgrading from a 60 litre tank and needed some advise on what fish I could add that would compliment my current fish.

I currently have:
2 Small Platinium angel fish
5 Neon tetras
2 male guppes
3 female guppies
2 male platties
2 female platties
1 yellow sucker loach

Was wondering if i could get clown loaches and a silver shark?

What do you suggest?

Hi :) Upgrades are always loads of fun, few issues/ recommendations I have for your current stock though. The yellow sucker loach, they can get aggressive as they get larger and they do get quite large, their aggression is often focused on slow moving roundish fish like your angels will be so perhaps consider taking him out and back to the LFS. Additionally the neon tetras while awesome are a natural food source for Angel fish so when the Angels get to adult size your neons will start to disappear so perhaps an option could be to keep the neons in the 60 liter tank if you were gong to keep it? Also guppies and angels sometimes have a few issues though it can be a bit hit and miss but I would perhaps consider keeping the neons and guppies in the 60l just to be on the safe side?

With the clown loaches and silver sharks, its a no. They both grow to about a foot long and need groups of at least 5 of each and as a result need a very big tank.

However there are a few alternatives for your tank for the clown loaches which are things like Zebra Loaches and Pygmy Chain Loaches. Not really anything similar to a silver shark for that sized tank unfortunately.

As for other fish to add to the tank, you could think about a group of Bolivian Rams (not blue rams, different fish with different requirements) or a group of Cupid Cichlids would be pretty nice with the angels. A good schooling fish would be nice to replace the neons but a larger species than neons to avoid being food for the angels when they get to be adult, so something like bleeding heart, von rio, flame back or black phantom tetras.

You could look at golden barbs they're always active and will add a nice colour variation to what you already have.

silver shark once big will eat anything it can fit in its mouth
a group of clowns are great
cherry barbs are great(6)
and you should get a bristlenose and some corys
