I'm getting my first freshwater tank soon, it's 25 gallons. I've been thinking about what I'd like in my tank and I was wondering if these are ok in my 25 gallon?

Blue Dwarf Gourami x 1
Threadfin Rainbows x 8
Zebra Snail x 1
Panda Cory x 3

Thanks!

It sounds OK, you may want more panda corys, like 4-6.

that sounds ok but also the Blue Dwarf Gourami you should get in pairs

I was going to do that actually but I've been told by at least 2 people that I shouldn't because they will fight.

If I get two gourami's how many of the other fish can I have too, or can I still keep the same numbers?

You can keep the same numbers as long as you keep up with water changes and the like. As previously mentioned, I would also upu the number of cories to 6+. They like friends!! 8)

i got a pair of blue Dwarf Gourami few months back and then last week someone on this forum needed to re home a pair of flame Dwarf Gourami so i took them aswel and there all fine im not sure how to tell female to males but mine are ok

im sure your still be fine with the numbers you have and the other few more

good choice of fish you got tho :good:

I've been looking at Plecos and they look very nice, would it be possible to have one of those in the tank and fish I have picked? Is so which type?

You would have to stay with a smaller plec and remember they are big waste producers. Also alot of them need more than just algae/algae wafers to eat. Don't be fooled in to thinking you can stick them in your tank as a "cleaner upper" and not have to feed them. I would recommend either the Bristlenose or rubberlip aka pitbull plec. It needs to stay under 6" in a tank of your size. Some species also require driftwood, so if you don't have any, you will have to get some. HTH!
*EDIT* Here's a good list to check out for smaller plecs http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=132656

Would either of these be ok?

Candy Striped Pleco

Sultan Pleco

You'll probably have to do some looking for a female dwarf gourami. For the most part, lfs only carry males. Males are the very colorful, pretty gouramis you probably see. Females are pretty drab, mono-tone fish. You might have some luck locating them online (Liveaquaria, Aquabid, etc).

I would wait to add the pleco if you stick with your current stocking list. You'll be pretty well stocked, and since this is your first tank, you'll want to get familiar with maintence. I would wait maybe a month after everything else is in there, and make sure you're parameters are stable, and then add one of the small plecs. I had a candy striped plec, and was quite happy with it. I don't think it grew over 3 or 4 inches.

I'm going to get a male and female pair as that's how the shop sells them. They said they're ok to live like this.

I've done tank maintence before, just never had freshwater fish before. Always had goldfish in the past. I was thinking of getting the candy pleco instead of the cory's, then there's not too much in the tank.
