hi all, so with my recent decision to go marine, FOWLR, with my 55 gallon tank, i've been thinking of my stocking list. I'm pretty set on getting a lionfish. I believe a yellow tang will get too big, right? but i do want some stunning fish that are on the larger side. The marine biologist who works at my LFS told me to put a maximum of 5 fish in this setup so i will take his advice. can anybody give me a nice example stock list, preferrably with the lionfish included. Thanks for the help

how about 1 of each of the following: lionfish, angel, trigger, puffer, and can anybody give me an idea of another? thanks

Stay away from tangs for atleast 6 months, puffer, trigger like a blue throat, eels are cool, a perfect fish would be a foxface, if you get a lion, get him smaller than everybody else. Good luck.

I'm in the same situation because i'm turning my 55 into salt this week. I'm thinking about a grren wolf eel, dwarf lionfish, medium size wrasse like a christmas wrasse, a trigger probably Niger, and a dwarf angel like the potters angel. I might not get all the fish but who knows, i'm just throwing out my thoughts if a go aggressive.

Consider some of the larger non-reef safe wrasses. Members of the Thalassoma genus or the Halichoeres genus or even a Coris wrasse would be great for that type of tank. If you're looking at Tangs, consider smaller ones like the Kole tang or others of it's same genus (Ctenochaetus). Puffers would probably be too big, as would be full-sized angels. Dwarf angels would probably be suitable though.

all of those fishes that you named would be ok with a lionfish? and what should i add first?

Lion fish last, and when you do add him make sure he is smaller then all the others, if not he will have himself some expensive treats. :)
I would start with a foxface and a snowflake eel, both are hardy, tangs are not good for new tanks, they will get ich about 90percent of the time.

Yup, the bigger FO wrasses will be fine with a lionfish
