Stocking Advice?

Hi,

Im Fairly new to this forum and thought i would just ask some advice on stocking my new 125l roma, i had been wanting this tank for a while and i finally had enough money to be able to buy it haha!

So anyway before i had a tiny 54l juwel tank which housed 4 guppies and 3 albino corys, i now i need to get some more corys and i really love my corys. I've been looking at some different breeds of corys, and i love the panda ones but cant get them anywhere haha! but thats not my question, i just wondered if i can actually mix the breeds okay without any problems? I'm new to corys? ha

also i am looking at getting some tetras as my guppies are falling ill all the time and my dad (who has kept fish for years) told me that livebearers seem to be more prone to getting dieases so i have a small 28l tank set up for my guppies now as i dont want my little corys getting ill! Anyway, i'm not sure what tetras to get, i really like the platinum tetras (if thats what they are called).

Also is there a breed of plec that doesnt grow huge or will i just avoid them, as i know as they get bigger they wont fit into my tank?

Any advice is appreciated, even other suggestions are welcome im always open to ideas!

a bristlenose plec (ancistrus) would be fine for a 125 l tank; they don't grow to much more than 5 inches and are very hardy

if your guppies are always falling ill it could be either because your water parameters are not suitable (they prefer hard alkaline water) or because your supplier is not selling you healthy fish

yes, you can mix cory species- just check their temperature requirements as those may not be the same

Thanks for the reply, bristlenose plec was what i was thinking after all the research

Well i know you are likely to be right but also i bought some plants from pets at home and being new at this game i didn't know to wash them first and then ended up all my guppies getting white spot and then i had numerous diseases from then onwards, although my corys didnt seem to be affected from any of them? its a different tank now so maybe that will help? anyway i decided to put my male guppies in the 125l and the females in the 28l as i had A LOT of fry and i couldn't cope with them, so i have split them up.

Oh and thanks for the info on the corys i will take that into account when choosing my corys, although i really like the pandas! haha

If I were you I would get
6 pandas, or 8 Pygmy cories
10 cardinals, or neons, or rummy noses, or black neons, or pristilla tetras, or 13 boras brigittae,
6 Kuhli loaches
1 dwarf gourami
4 fancy male guppies
