hello all,

my 120l tank has been set up for few weeks now, just finishing planting it up. I'm thinking of uploading some photos soon. I started my cycle a couple of days ago so am thinking hard about my fish, far too much fun :drool: . im hoping someone on here can tell me if im being a bit over optimistic with numbers and maybe can suggest some pretty shoaling fish for me. So, the list;

main shoals

x6 Galaxy Rasbora/ Glowlight tetra or something similar
x6 Lemon Tetras/Galaxy Rasboras or, again, something similar
x10 Ember or Rummy Tetras

Bottom dwellers

x4 Kuhli Loach
x6 Sterba or Panda Cories
x4 Amano Shrimp
x6 Cherry Shrimp

Does any body have any suggestions for some nice shoaling fish to go consider? could i bump another of the main shoals up to ten or is that too much? Something else im thinking is a bamboo shrimp, would it be an option to just get one of these rather than amano and cherrys? while i love bamboo shrimp i think i would rather have a few smaller ones milling about than one big one. But hey keep my options open. Also will two breeds of corys shoal together? could i get three panda and three sterba or is it better to get six of one?

thanks so much for reading and any help you can give me.

All corys are different with the exception of the albino and bronze which will group together, the others won't.

42 fish in a 30g tank IS alot... But with double filtration and live plants you should be okay.

Also use sand for your corrys :)

Cory's will school together if they don't have any other options, but hey would best kept as one large school of one species as you would observe much more natural behaviour from them. Also in a tank this size i would suggest a large shoal of one kind of Tetra/Rasbora, maybe a centre piece fish such as a pair of Honey Gourami's then maybe 6-8 Cory's of one type. As for the Kuhli's i have no experience of these so can't comment. You could put a nice smaller Plec in there too.

Aim for fish that are opposite colours to create a nice effect.

And also, all albino cory's aren't bronze.
