Hey everyone i just got a 125 gallon from the lfs tuesday and was wondering if a mix i was thinking of was okay. The main specimen i want people to focus around is my uarus. I currently have two i want to add three more to have a total of five uarus. I have six keyholes already and not getting anymore even though i love the little guys. I love severums so im thinking of adding two and i have one geophagus altifrons already as well. So my set up i would like would be 5 uaru, 6 keyholes, 2 severums, and one geophagus altifrons. Bottom feeders are 5 cory cats 1 synodontis and one pleco. Maybe i should add some geophagus altifrons so i have a group of them as well if i had the space any opinions much appreciated thanks.

5 adult uaru pretty much fill up a 125 on their own. Unless you are dead set on getting a small shoal, I would stick with the two you have. In my experience, and from what I have heard from others, uaru are usually very happy in twos.
Sticking with just 2 uaru also gives you a lot of other options for the tank.
Geo's are usually happier in a group, so it would be nice to give your current single one some friends.
However, IMO, 2 x uaru, 2 x sevs, 6 x keyholes & a group of geos is also really pushing the stocking. How about sticking to one sev, as sevs are just as happy without a partner.
Also, how big/what species is the pleco ? a large pleco, 5 x corys, a large synodontis AND a shoal of geos is not giving each fish much space on the bottom. A 125 is big but not that big, once you start filling it up with larger fish.

Personally, I would consider

... keeping your 2 uaru as a 2,
.... add one sev.
.... get another 3-4 geos
....keep your keyholes.

As for cats, personally, I would get rid of the synodontis and pleco, unless they are one of the smaller species. I would then up the cory shoal numbers to 12 or 15 or something like that.
A large pleco just does not seem to "fit" with the rest of the stock you are suggesting.

It's a fun "problem" to have though !

thank you i think that layout sounds good and a uaru pair is probably just as good as a small shoal display wise. Ill try to get more geos but i think they can grow a bit larger then uarus can but i guess they need more of a social connection to be in a shoal then the uaru.
