36" x 12" D x 18" H tank at my parent's place.

Just finished cycling, so I'm looking up some stocking ideas. They would like som fish that are blue, red or yellow - something bright really.

I have been thinking of maybe:

a pair of angels
a pair of gouramis
a small shoal of cardinal tetras or the like.
probably a BN for the algae control...

Any comments on the stocking advice?

Thanks,

Jee

Hi there,

If you're thinking about having a BN for algae control maybe you should get some cories.. They're real cute in groups!

Also, I quite like purple emperor tetras which are a similar size to cardinal tetras. I do like gouramis but I always find it hard to get hold of healthy ones round here (you may not have this problem)

And I'm a sucker for angels.. Rams are very pretty too. It's all down to personal taste really!

Practical Fish Keeping have these stocking details for your sized aquarium:

Dimensions 91 x 30 x 46cm/36" x 12" x 18
Surface area 0.27 sqm/2.91 sq ft/ inches sq in
Volume 127 l./28 gal. (33.55 US gal.)
Probable volume 114 l./25 gal. (30 US gal.)
Stocking density 25"/64cm (built up gradually)
Maximum density 50"/127cm (theoretical maximum)

So you've got quite a bit of choice :)

right my idea
start off by buyin 5 angels then once you have a male and female pair return the other 3 to the lfs
do the same to get a pair of dwarf gouramis
5 neon tetras 2 black neon tetras and 3 glowlight tetras as they will all shoal together bringing diversity to the shoal
and 4 or 5 oto's for algae control however you will need to feed them algae pellets aswell
