Hey, wondered if people could give me some advice. I;ve recently inherited a 2 and a half foot tank which I have set up and is now ready to recieve fish but as I've already got a coldwater tank and a 2 foot tropical tank I wanted to put something interesting or colourful in it for a bit of variation, but nothing too expensive! I wondered also about whether to use it as an attempt in breeding rather than stocking fully up?
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated as I'm really enthusiastic to do something good with it, but obviously it being relatively small limits my options.
Thanks!
Jenny

Kribensis are pretty simple, small west african cichlids and they breed like mad (took mine 2 weeks to have fry in the tank (which means less then a week to lay eggs) and they are great parents, if you decide to try kribs you could also do a school of small quick little fish to go along w/ them as they get rather aggressive when babies are around.

I've had a lot of people recommending Kribs. So do you reckon just one pair or several? What about once they have the fry? Will there be enough space in the tank for the survivors once they grow? (Sorry I must sound really dense, it's just we don't stock Kribs at my work so Ive had little experience of them!)

one pair of kribs any more and they will fight for the territory.
the tank should be sufficiant to raise the fry to the point where they are bigenough to sell on.

Cool thanks! I'll probably needs loads of advice when it comes to breeding them but I'll post that in the corresponding section of the site! Any advice you could give would be weel appreciated. Any types of plants preffered for example?

kribs need a cave to spawn in.
you can buy specifically designed spawning cones, but an upturned flower pot (with access hole cut out) will suffice.
it just needs to have only one entrance/exit, so they feel secure.

I myself have a exo-terra cave (hagen) designed for reptiles in my tank, the kribs use that to spawn in.
