I'm starting up a 10g nano and now I'm looking in to the stocking suggestions..... I know nanos are usually stocked up with anemones, corals, and maybe a few fish, definately considering the size of mine which I won't have much room to work with. I don't think I'll be stocking any anemones or corals, maybe a few that can run under standard lighting, but My main point is some colorful fish? I like clowns but I think it may be a bit to tight to house a clown in there. Gobies... Probably my best bet, in which I'd like to keep each fish under $15.

Suggestions anyone?

In a 10gallon two clowns would fit the bill, or if you want...You can get a goby and a clown. For color, I used to own a yellowhead jawfish. But it requires a deep sand bed, 4inches min. They usually run about $15-20 which would exceed your budget. Anemones aren't even corals, but invertabrates. They aren't reccomended to be held in a nano because it's far too challenging to keep the water quality up to par. I'd suggest you look out the TFF nano section for more information regarding nanos since it's pretty much the best place to start.

Anemones CAN be kept in a nano tank but it requires a certain degree of dedication; that is, regular water changes, a good skimmer, and strong lighting ($$$). On a side note, anemones are as much "corals" as many of the animals that we do call 'corals' (and both are still invertebrates).

You could probably keep a pair of clownfish in a ten gallon. I have seen it happen many times, but I would be reluctant to try it (partly cause of how much clownfish blow).

Well maybe I'll try something like this..... 1 clown fish and 1 high fin goby, or maybe a clown fish and a clown goby?

I like the idea of having a clown and a goby os some sort!

anemones are not coral at all, most willl grow to the size of a tengallon tank, and even larger, so they arent very suitable for a ten

i vote for highfin and clown

Well if I think I'm going with a high fin and a clown.... But if I did do two clowns, would it be smart to get them at the same time or could I add another later?

if you get two clowns its best to get them at the same time, or buy already paired clowns, if you get them unpaired get a smaller and a larger one form the same tank

cnidaria is the word (did i spell it right, not a very good post if i didnt spell it right....)

lynden always wins with facts! kyle just chucks liveaquaria info about.

my vote is for a black and white percula clown and a green clown goby :D

is live rock coral? No, but some stupid people think it is..... (lets not get too technical in saying, well live rock is a dead coral skeleton so you could possibly say that it is a coral)

Well, perhaps we shouldn't use the words "soft coral" anymore... I'm sure that would clear things up.

many people can get meaty lps corals confused with soft corals, like brain corals and elegance coral etc
