I run a tank the size in title, it freshwater tropical and I;ve kept fish for 18 years so have a fair amount of experience

I;ve never kept marine although often kept brackish

I am almost certain that I want to give marine a good go, it will definately be fish only

I;ve always been drawn to Volitans lionfish, morays, puffers and panther groupers

I also fancy the idea of yellow tangs, triggers as well

choices choices!!!

can you comment on the ideas I have and give me some tips on stocking levels and combinatiosn of choice please

If I had to pick a must/favourite out of the above it would be the Volitans

cheers SImon

anyone please? plus how much live rock would be recomended for a tank this size? I;ve seen some indonesian live rock at my LFS TODAY FOR £11 a kilo?

hi in the calculator it sais 78kg of lr for your tank

also all i will say is if you want the volitan then you cant have a trigger as there one of the few fish that will actually kill a lion fish

crikey £800 odd quid just for the live rock!!!!

cheers for the info about the trigger I didn;t know that, although I love the triggers that is one of those out of the question as I have always wanted the Volitans

I've joined a marine website but waiting for confirmation so i can post and do more research!!

yeah lr is insane allthough if your going fowlr then id probablly use a canister filter with lr rubble in it and that would significally reduce the amount you need

also you can pick up some real bargains on lr off ebay for like 5 pound per killo so it would end up as 390 instead

also if you b uild it up slowly eg have only 20 kg have just a couple of smaller fish kinda thing

although marine is said to be harder if it wasnt for the corals id say it was exactly the same

id say this would work

1 x volitan (other fish need to be real big before you put one of these in tho)
1 x moray eel (snow flake are awsome)
1 x dof face puffer
1 x yellow tang(too many can cause real aggression)
dont know alot about panther groups

heres some fish to think about tho

scats fish
mono fish
there actually brackish but can be converted to full marine

also foxface rabbitfish

Simonas, you are going to give yourself a heart attack at this rate

buy your live rock from a reefer breaking down a tank - will cost approx £5 a kilo :good:
