Basically all the feeder fish we had in the 20 gallong fish tank died. So im gonna be doing a complete water change, New water, cleaning the filter fully and changing the little pad or whatever in it. Keeping the biowheel of course.

My brother gave up on it, so i said what the heck, any ideas on what i should stock it with?

I was edging more on the side of 1 fish, 1 fish that will live in there fine, but im having second thoughts, for ive never heard of one that could in a 20 gallon for its life perhaps.

But a really really really cool fish would be nice.

Ok well, thanks for any input, seeyah guys later.

Well, if your looking for something different, there is a sticky on oddballs for tanks 20 gallons and under, there are smaller cichlids that could be housed by themselves...

to be honest i would start with either plattys or mollys they are the easiest sort of
fish to keep and you will probably have babies within a month or so.
then move on to things like smaller cichlids. it would be such a shame to get one and see
it die

Yes, but then he would have to do something with them before he get his single fish.

NightStalker, research is key for getting fish, do a search on this forum, check out all the pinned topics on the various fish and see if you can't find a couple you like the looks of, and then we'l help you figure out what would go best with what your tank could handle.

My personal choice for a lone fish in a 20 gallon would be a Figure 8 puffer. As said, do research. Lots of it. Know exactly what you're getting into before you purchase whatever you get. I would advise against getting anything other than exactly what you want, because then you have to care for it for the rest of its lifespan. Especially true for livebearers, as suggested above, because they multiply and you can never get rid of them unless you find someone else to take them, which can be tough.

If I were you I'd do more to clean out the tank than what you've done. Probably you'll lose the cycle anyways since its sitting empty. If it was a complete wipe-out of those feeders you may have something nasty in the tank. You can clean with bleach if you make sure to rinse very well and let it completely dry before reusing it. You can get replacement biowheels, too.
