Hi,

My girlfriend has just finished cycling a 125 litre juwel rio tank. She currently has 5 tiger barbs in there and would really love to add some cichlids. I was just wondering what cichlids would be ok to add and how many? she kinda likes kribensis, juwel cichlids, firemouths.

Any suggestions would be fab.

Cheers.

Kribs will be fine, as would Bolivian or German Blue Rams. Keyholes might be an option too, get a second opinion on that though as I've not kept them.

a pair of kribs would work well. keyholes may be a bit shy to mix with tiger barbs. i wouldnt go for rams as they are very dellicate/sensitive to even small changes in water paramaters. id wait til the tank has been running constant and trouble free for at least 6 months before thinkiong about rams

Ok,

So if we added 2 kribensis to the tank, should it be m&f, m&m, f&f? also if the kribs were going in what else could we have cichlid wise?

Tiger barbs should be renamed tiger sharks

I feel a species only tank is the only safe way. that 120L would make a nice species only tank 5 normal 5 albino with lots of plants

Mine would attack a 23cm goldfish a 13cm plec and even have a go at apple snail shells.

please consider this decision carefully
