Stocking 5 Gallon

Hey guys,
 
I got a fluval chi, and was wondering how many dwarf crayfish I could stock inside. Also would a betta do fine with them?

I'd just choose one or the other. It may be possible in a larger tank, but there are a lot of anecdotes of people who have had the crayfish rip the betta's fins.

A crayfish tank would be really cool and definitely unusual!
