hey guys,

I recentaly got a new tank, i moved my betta into it so he has a tank all to himself. Now I have a 10 gallon tank with 10 neon tetras. I was thinking about turing it into a community tank but then then really the only thing i could put in it would be another betta. so i came up with the idea of putting the 10 neons into my 30 gallon tank, but the problem is i dont want to overstock it. Right now it has 5 congo tetras ( 2 male 3 female ) 6 head and tails 1 golden gourami and 1 bristle nose catfish. Will adding 10 neons to this tank over stock it? im thinking it will but need some advice.

Any advice will be helpful on either the 10g or the 30g

I don't know what a head and tail is, but it seems to me that you might overstock with 10 neons in there. But why not take the gradual approach and add 5 for several weeks and give your filter time to adjust to the new load? If your stats stay good then add a few more.

I think your 30 gallon tank has enough fish in it. ;) If you add the ten neons, you should take out Pleco and gourami and out them in a different tank. That's what I would do. :good:

thanks guys, i really didn't want to stuff my 30 gallon tank up now, it has been running really well for the past 7 months :)

Ps I ment to say head and tail light tetra i just forgot to write the last part :p

I've never even heard of a head and tail light tetra! They look cool.

yehh they are pretty cool little fish, the on their eye and tail really glow under lights

Do you guys know on how i could change my 10 gallon into a community or do i have to many neons to make it a community ?

10 neons in a 10 gallon could only fit another small fish or two.

I wouldn't put 10 neons in a ten gallon. That's just a little over the top. If you add the ten neons, then add no more than that. It'll be cramped... :good:
