really sorry to say this but i dont think a betta is for me, i wanted the tank like a river with pebbles scattered and the filter powerful with bubbles coming out, now i know bettas dont like currents.......

right because i want a fast flow, neons dont like fast water either, they prefer it still as they live in still water, but head and tail lights love fast water and come from streams (i think) so i was thinking:

- 1 honey gourami - 2 inches - (Male)
- 2 Schwartz corys - 4 inches - (?)
- 4 Head and tail lights - 6 inches - (?)
- 1 Oto - 1.5 inches - (?)

- total: 8 Fish - 13.5 inches (0.5 inches over the limit but would this be ok if i kept up on maintenence?)

+ the thing is i saw an otto in the flesh at the lfs, and i really love them, i could of bought it then but i new i couldnt! iv read a thread about how they can be kept on there own but nmonks said they might suck on the gouramis body?...is this true,

thanks everone and sorry for changing my mind but i really like them and i want fish that are going to like the conditions!

Just out of interest, where did the 13 inches figure come from?

rusty measured his aqua 40's surface area and his came to 13inches so its 13inches of fish as im using surface area not 1 inch per gallon + jayjay worked it out and it came to 13inches as well.

Thanks.. just curious..

What is the calculation that is used / the ratio of inches of fish to square inches of surface area.?

mmm, dunno but mine seem perfectly happy there always searchign and swiming in current very active, o yea forgot to say i already have the corys! not the tetras or otto or honey tho!

i would still like you to take the measurements yourself aswel by the way.

its length x width / 10

all this is in inches for the number you get is the number of small in inches you could keep if you follow?

When this thread was first started, I voted for the betta with 3 cories. Since you already have two cories and has said you don't want a betta... I say get one more cory and get the honey gourami. But I would not get any tetras; they really need much more room to swim around in.

Good luck with your tank.
