Hi,

I've recently set up this huge 40" by 20" [and 24" deep] tank, and wondered whether it's big enough for my current fish:

3 Bala Sharks [roughly 15cm long]
2 Adult angel fish
1 Adult Blue Gourami
1 Sailfin plec [about 18cm long]
7 neon tetra
5 red phantom tetra
3 Harlequins
2 penguin tetra
1 fat molly
2 botia loaches
..and a snail

here are some pics... [a bit rubbish as the cams no good]

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Paul.

3 Bala Sharks [roughly 15cm long]- Tank too small, they need to be in larger groups too.
2 Adult angel fish- Should be OK, watch out for territoriality.
1 Adult Blue Gourami-
1 Sailfin plec [about 18cm long]- Tank too small, they get huge and very messy
7 neon tetra
5 red phantom tetra
3 Harlequins
2 penguin tetra
1 fat molly-
2 botia loaches- What species?
..and a snail- Botias love snails :shifty:

The bala sharks will geta new home when they are 20cm.
The loaches have never seemed to bother the snail, and the snail seems fairly happy, they are crossbanded loaches.

The catfish was an accident... we never bought him, althoug had a huge 30cm catfish before and maybe this is his mother? who knows.. but we will sell him when he needs a bigger home.

i was thinking of getting some more rasbora harlequins. u think the sharks need to be in bigger groups? they are very happy just the 3 of them.

cheers 4 ur input, paul.

okay.. so I've finally worked out the amount of water it can hold... 40 UK gallons.

With the same fish list, minus the 3 sharks and the plec... would you say I could incorporate maybe 10 more harlequins???

that would make it:

1 Corby gourami
2 Angelfish
13 Harlequinns
7 neon tetra
5 red phantoms
2 crossbanded loaches
2 penguin tetra
1 stubby molly
and a bunch of guppies...

in a 40 UK gallon tank ??

the angels are about 15cm tall... the neons are fully grown, we had all of them together as young fish and all seem to get on happily together :) maybe we're just lucky

what about the stock check? cheers.
