how do you make java moss stick to aquarium ornaments? i was in the LFS and saw that they had some moss growing on a coconut shell.

i'd have never of thought of cotton! seems like a good idea. and is cotton ok to be in the fish tank?

Just like this:

I use white cotton, because its easy to see after a month or so to remove it, but mainly its because thats the only colour I could find at the local shop

Check out the pinned step by step guide to Moss and riccia above for a great method. I have also had a lot of very fast success with attaching Java moss to slate by filling a quarter to half inch of water in a propagator and placing slate in the water with just the top surface breaking the water. I then cover it very thinly in moss and put the clear to p on. It is placed in a bright place (my conservatory), but away from direct sunlight. The moss is usually attached and growing well within two weeks. Christmas moss takes a little longer to attach. I'll upload some step by step pictures when I next do it.
Best wishes.
Jep.

hi cheap fishing line is the best as you cant see it , you could use flouro carbon line which is invisible under water but is more expensive. regards john

well people use cotton because atfer the moss has taken hold of the wood the cotton will slowy disintegrate

i will give it a go tommorow! thanks for all the replys and advice!

yes! thats exactly why i use cotton, because it will rot away after so long.
but be sure to get real cotton and not that polyester stuff because that won't go away lol
