Hi,
I've had five Sterbai Corydoras in a ten gallon quarantine tank for exactly two weeks now. Everything was going fine, corys were eating, behaving normally. But tonight, while observing them, I noticed one cory had a white flake/scale on his left pectoral fin. I netted him and placed him in a little cup for closer observation. I doesn't appear to be fungus, or at least to me it doesn't. I also noticed he had white stringy feces. He's still swimming and behaving fine, he doesn't seem sick or lethargic.
So I let him back into quarantine, did about a 30-40% water change and began dosing some Kanaplex I had leftover. I can't get any pics to show, corys are so difficult to get pics off, even of he did hold still I probably wouldn't be able to pick up the white "thing" on his fin. The other corydoras don't appear to have anything and seem clean. But I'm treating the whole tank just to be sure it doesn't get passed around.

On top of all that, I discovered one of my albino corys in my 55 has a chewed up tail fin! The top part looks like it was bitten and I'm looking at my Pearl gourami as a suspect...
The cory seems fine though, in fact he doesn't seem to mind I guess. This ha happened before where a cory has a damaged tail fin, but within a week or so it completely healed!
But... Jeez, what is it with the corys tonight?!

This isn't exactly an emergency, really. But I've never dealt with bacterial (or possibly bacterial) infections before. So... I'm kind of worried, I hope my Sterbais can be cured of whatever this may be. But my hunch is that it's a bacterial infection on his fin.
I've dealt with fin rot and fungus, but never quite something like this...

White stringy feces can be constipation or parasites. If you search the forums you will see recent discussions regarding bacterial infections, as I had an issue with some fish in the past month. It is probably best someone from the USA answers as you have access to meds that are a lot stronger than we are allowed in the UK.

Good on you for having a Q-tank, makes all the difference.

What are you feeding the fish?

I have a feeling it's parasites, I feed these guys very sparingly of Omega One: Protein Pellets and Omega One: Veggie Rounds. I could try feeding them daphnia, what does help with bowel movement, right? That is, IF it's constipation and not parasites...

I thing is, I'm not entirely sure if it is a bacterial infection...  Besides the white white stringy feces, he has that white flake (best way I can describe it) on his pectoral fin. It doesn't have an effect on his ability to swim, and it's very small, almost unnoticeable. I'm really glad I caught it before I added them to the 55 gallon tank, because that's what was going to happen. But luckily, I decided to examine them before hand. It's only this one cory out of five, so I'm hoping I can tackle the problem early before it could possibly get worse. However, I don't know if the others have white stringy feces.

One thing I'm curious about, what should the temperature be at in this case? I usually keep the temperature at around 75 degrees Fahrenheit, for a bacterial infection, wouldn't I want to keep the water a little colder? Or warmer so the medicine can work faster on the infection? I'm not sure...
I'm planning to dose Kanaplex everyday for the next three days, but dose after a 50% water change to keep the water clean. After those three days, how long of a break should I give the tank before dosing again?
