Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): about a month ago i picked up a pair of sterbai corys, and one of that original pair seems to be flagging behind the other one, which is growing well and looks bright and healthy. the cory in question hasnt really grown, its markings are less well defined and is darker in general. it is not as active as others, sometimes its spine seems bent, but it is also straight quite often, so im not sure if its just down to how its sitting at the time. when it wants to swim it can swim perfectly normal. he is eating. today hes been sitting against the glass so i can see his underside, and it looks lumpy. ive not seen underneath my other cories, but im assuming its not normal. yesterday he seemed to have some white stuff on his 'nostrils', but later in the day it had gone, and is still not present. i dont have a hospital tank.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 25L every other day

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: none

Tank inhabitants: 5 red eye, 6 emporor,5 BA tetra, rusty and butterfly plec, 2 syno, 2 gbr, 1 apisto, 7 other cory, 5 cherry barb

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): none when i noticed fish symptoms

Exposure to chemicals:none

Digital photo (include if possible): ill try get one when i can

ive noticed these symptoms for about a week or so, although today is the first time ive been able to see his belly. when i say 'He', i dont know what sex the cory is. all my other fish seem perfectly happy, im certain this is something restricted to the particular fish. i'll try grab a photo of him if i can get a good one.

got some pics, the white nostril stuff seems to be back.

is this a bent spine or not ? this is sometimes how he rests, but he can straighten it fine.

it was a bit difficult to pick up the lumps underneath him, it looks like he swollowed a couple pf little polystyrene beanbag balls.

no ideas ?

he seams generally ok, but at the same time is clearly acting differently to the other clearly healthy fish. hes been like this for over a week now, with no improvement or worsening of the symptoms.

cant believe nobody can help, must be the only thread in here with no ideas  just had a look at him, i suspect he will be dead when i get up in the morning, not much i can do now.

was gulping for air at the top for about 10 seconds, then drifted to the bottom and is now listing over against the glass, breathing heavily.

I wanted to answer earlier but dont know what to say, as ive not experienced it before. The lumps on the underbelly, are they small or quite big, like 2 big bumps? Very odd behaviour he's showing now.

Its a shame you dont have a hospital tank, as you could be treating him separately now with medication. Is there any way you can get one? Small tanks really dont cost much at all. If he doesnt make it then it might be worth considering getting one anyway, because when situations like this arise, its always better to separate the sick fish from the well ones.

well, i think hes still alive, its hard to see without the tank lights on, and i dont have time to look for him im going to work. it looks like 2 or 3 little lumps i think. i do have a small tank, but the cost of getting a filter, light, heater is not something i want to do at this time of year. then i havnt got anywhere to put it either. i will hopefully get it running in the new year, but right now its not really an option. sounds harsh, but i cant spend out on those tank bits for the sake of a 6 quid fish coming up to xmas. even if i DID have somewhere to keep the tank.

well hes still alive, and acting mostly normal, hanging about with my other 3 sterbai's. maybe hes just got a deformed bit, like manboobs or something

hahaha!! glad hes looking a bit better. regular large water changes are often all they need. just carry on with those for a while!

was dead this morning, unlucky little fella.
