Starting Yellow lab 50 gallon

Ok, i have decided to start a cichlid tank and i have read up on as many articles as i could so im ready to get started. I have decided to just have one species of fish, electric yellow labs and im gonna get about 5 of them maybe more. For the tank i am going to use tahijian moon sand is this ok? Ill be adding some realistic looking plastic plants and a caves system of rocks...

Please give me any comments you can think of

Well, for a species tanks you'll probably want higher numbers or it will be a pretty empty tank. Otherwise it sounds like a nice plan so far.
