Platies and Zebra Danios are good fish to begin with if you insist on cycling a tank with fish. You can mature a tank without fish, there are plenty of threads on 'fishless cycling' on here and elsewhere.

I notice you've started a hundred and one threads! Feel free to ansk as many questions as you like in one thread as people will still answer them. Infact they may get answered quicker. :good:

sorry im very new and its a complex area and i dont want the fish to die

Hi Sally2,

I cycled my tank with 4 red wagtailed platys and would definitely reccomend them.
They are still all happily swimming around 1 month on and have been joined by 5 lemon tetras.
They are fun to watch and are very lively.

I just kept an eye on the water readings and did regular changes and they have been fine.
I also have live plants which they don't nibble which is a good thing, in fact they eat the algae off them!

Good luck with you tank

Billy the Fish :)
