Starting My First Fish Tank

Hello there Everyone!
I am brand new to the game of fish and would love to have some advice before I take any little fishie lives into my hands. I have owned a 29 gallon high fish tank for quite some time as I keep land hermit crabs. Since then my land hermit crabs have transfered to a bit larger 95gw tank and I would like to put my 29 to good use. I think I would like to keep fresh water fish, but am considering doing a brackish water deal so that I could transfer some of my fiddler crabs into having their own oasis. What do you suggest for a first time fish owner and what should I keep in my tank?

Not sure whether you know about cycling, but if not I highly recommend looking into that soon. It will take some time to do and you can be waiting for that while researching your other stuff.

I don't know much about brackish setups, though there are obviously only certain species that will tolerate such water. Hopefully someone will be along after me with some suggestions.

I know nothing about crabs or brackish, but a general rule that is usually right is don't mix claws and fins.
