hiya all
well been thinking watching reading & all the works & i'm thinking of starting another cichlid tank :D
the tank is 4 foot 55 uk gals. what i'm thinking of is this, i know there is a possabilty that i have got hybrids in my corner tank so i'm going to have 1 tank for the hybrids & the corner tank for cichlids that are not. does that make sense cos i've kinda confused myself now lol :S
so in the corner tank for now i will have
ob zebras
red zebras
yellow tailed aceis

and in the 55 gal i will have
the blues ones i'm not sure about
and the so called yellow labs

i will try to return the auratus althou they not being nasty at the moment i'm not taking any chances
and the firemouths can go in the 28 gal tank on their own, would i be able to fit anything else in the 28 gal with just the 2 firemouths in ???
thanks all
trace :D

All sounds fine to me but why not keep the hybrids in the corner(how big is it) then have the mbuna cichlids in the 4' and you can have more than just:
ob zebras
red zebras
yellow tailed aceis

And im not to sure on the firemouths?

the corner tank is big, 65 uk gals. its the old juwel delta 300. so thought it would be better as my show tank if you know what i mean.

yeah you know thinking about it that would make sense cos i had to seperate the ob zebras cos 1 was always picking on the others. if i use the 4 foot then i can build up the rock so they can't always see each other can't i.
why did i not think of that :X
thank ginge :good:

Hi trace1, the 28 gal is not really big enough for 2 FM's when fully grown, i certainly wouldn't add anything else. :/

right how bout a 38 uk gals for the firemouths & something else.
think i'm gona get rid of most of my community fish, if the firemouths are not going in the 28 gal then i can have a small community tank there & the other 2 or 3 as cichlid tank. so that would give me 2 malawi tanks 1 south american cichlid tank & a small community tank. so a combination all round there.
oh yeah & i still have the 13 gal tank thats empty :D so that could be a hospital tank.
hows that sounding ??

38 should be just about OK but if they become aggressive towards each other, there's nowhere to hide and you will have problems. Are they a pair or 2 males/females?

Everything else sounds really good. :D

the 38 gal is 4 foot long, so won't that help as well ?? its 48x15x15
not sure if they are a pair or not, not had any babies yet but that could be because i was an idiot & put them in with the malawis :X
1 of them does have a more pointed dorsel fin than the other & they do stick together most of the time.

if our dog doesn't cost me to much at the vets tonight then hopefully i will be able to get it all moved round soon :D

Sounds like a male and female so could well end up being a pair, fingers crossed. The tank dimensions will help so i say go for it. :good:

FM's are great fish so i hope it works out.
