As the title says, I'm starting with livebearers again :) My partner has got me a trio of guppies to start off with again and then when they've settled I'll be getting some platies and/or swordtails. I'll get pictures up when he sends me some, I'll be bringing them home with me on the 7th January to go in my tank.

whats so fascinating about livebeares? dont you get bored of them?

I had them a while a go as I was trying to breed strains but my star male died so I gave up. I then moved on to Paradise Fish and Betta's and stuff like that but now I am setting my 2 1/2ft tank back up but want something hardy due to me only being here every now and then because I'm in the process of moving out of my mums. I never get bored of Livebearers. I think they can be very fascinating.

I love my platies, they aren't boring at all! They all have personalities and are just gorgeous! :D

fair enough, i get that they are cute an all :) i personally dont like them much but my gf loves them. suuuch a shame i have guppy eating fish and we cant have anymore :p

lol, I had betta's and an angel before so couldn't have any then as my angel would have shredded them and the betta's would have killed them too XD

i used to love molly's but when i had my tank crash after introducing 4 gourami's i lost nearly all of my fish,

i was truley gutted as i had so many mixed colours which i loved and i was gutted that i couldnt find anymore molly's that looked like what i had so i lost all interest in them,

my mollys had made a pecking order through the males and females and it was weired to see who would basically have their place and who the females was allowed to be near or not

I've now seen my babies! :D They're at my partners in his QT tank currently and I'm taking them home with me on the 7th Jan but they are gorgeous!

I'll try and get some picture for everyone to see but can't guarantee they'll be any good as the tank light went last night and it's a built in one so he's going to have to buy a clip on bulb till he can get it sorted

There's nothing boring about livebearers, hence they are one of the most popular fish with endless information about them.
It's just that some people think that the rarer the fish, the more creditable it makes them as fish keepers because they are considered more difficult to keep and breed. But there's nothing easy in selectively breeding guppies for example and growing any type of fry to a healthy adult takes almost the same amount of time and effort as the "more difficult" ones.

I love livebearers babies. I had a platy bunch and guppy bunch and they were so unique! Red tail guppy + Yellow tail guppy = Orange baby tails, Spotty platy + 0range platy = Orange with spots!

One of the guppies had a tail with no colour which I thought was a bit strange  .

I wish all livebearers were bloody boring lol.
I have more fish tanks then most lfs I keep and breed more livebearers
Then most fish keepers, I spend twenty + hours a week maintaining tanks, preparing
And feeding twice a week 25 large containers cultured live foods) including collecting
live foods 2 or 3 Times a week, anyway There is a family/ group of about 35 types of Livebeaerer
species and over 250 individuals. If anyone really thinks the guppy or common Livebearers’ are
boring or if you like a challenge well then why not have a go at keeping wild Livebeaerers
