Hey there, I am thinking about starting a planted tank. it is 125L which seems to be a decent size. i was wondering is it easy to take care of these aquatic plants? whats plants would you recommend for a beginner? and also I currtly have an apple snail, bristlenose (baby), 2 zebra danios and a borneo sucker will these fish eat the plants? and one last question, does it matter what fish I have with plants, or does the type of plants i get determine what fish I can get. Sorry about all the questions :)

just quickly, is you tank topical? i am assuming so, however, the zebra danio's have thrown me...

now the first question you have to ask yourself before you get to involved in this is... how far are you willing to go.

Many people do not realise the level of involvement that is needed with a planted tank...

First off... What type of lighting do you have? I only ask this because it is imperative that you have a good amount of light for planted tanks as they photosynthesis process is a lot more intense in water than it is in you back yard. A strong light source will allow your plants to flourish and thrive.

Second. What type of substrate do you have in your tank?

Third. How long have you had your tank set up for?

Fourth. How much are you willing to spend on getting it to the way that you want it to look? :p

A new aquarium only a month or so. Yes it is tropical. I have two large light tubes that run across of my tank. (it is one of those tanks with the lights built into the hood) I feel I am willing to go quit far, and with the $$$ I sure I won't mind so much as looking forward towards the end result. I was thinking maybe starting with some type of hardy plant?and work my way up to the plants that require more experience. As I have never dealt with live plants before

T5 or T8 globes?

right... what to start off with... hmmm... pennywort? hygrophila? Ambulia? Wisteria? Rotala Wallichii? lilaeopsis? your options are open dude...
