One of my boys is flaring constantly at the moment, he will flare when i go over to watch him (this is at me), he was flaring at one of the plants earlier and the filter as well, he started to make a bubble nest earlier but destroyed this when i came over to have a look he is being a right moody s*d. The only time he isnt doing this is when im feeding him then he is happy as larry. maybe he is having a territorial dispute with himself.

LOL he is being a drama queen bless him!

He Started doing it since i put a indian almond leaf in the tank. I'm just glad there no other fish in his tank which he can lash out at, how are the ADF's getting on i think one of mine is full of sporn as she has got really fat, i will just have to wait and see on that one.

to address some of the things you are experiencing.
the flaring is normal. i have a boy that flares ate absolutely everything. the plants. the snails. the bubbles off his sponge filter..his food..the rocks..nitrite drops when i do water testing...the syphon during changes.
it is part of their personality and some are more "suspicious" of objects than others. totally normal.

as for the really fat part. what are you feeding him. bettas are particularly prone to constipation on just a staple betta pellet or flake or freeze dried foods. it is common practice to feed them a cooked, deshelled pea, chop it up into bite sized pieces and feed as much of it they want one day a week. then starve them one day (dont worry they will be fine...fish can go for quite some time without food).
i would not feed him for a day or two and see if his fatness gets better (although bettas do get a bit of a belly when they eat...as long as it isnt really round as if theyve swallowed a marble they will be and dont need a pea day). if you feed freezedried food, try soaking them first till they are soft before you feed the fish.

hope that helped.
anymore questions feel free to ask.
cheers

He has only started since ive put the IAL in the tank. He never normally flares at anything

the betta isnt fat he is fine, its one of my African Dwarf Frogs she's got huge in the last couple of days suspect she may be full of eggs.

LOL, the flaring is normals, calcifer is laid back but hates black, the two new boys I got, Reno zippy but likes everything, Rude grumpy tike who flares at most things but settling down. The leaf probably set him off, some dont like new things! It is nice you have added though!
Aw you will have to set a post up of preggo frogs and any spawns for me, love to see! They are fine both of them. Love these cheap fish bridges I got for 99p each and venture out now and again. Klaus my first has learnt to eat out the baster but we have some ways to go with Francine (I do think I may have both females though one is larger than the other ;)).

Dont worry about your boy too much for now! Just keep eye on him and let us know if he changes or gets worst somehow! :)

I used the pointers on the pinned dwarf frog article in amphibians to look at the slight differences between male and female (http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=234165). i just got lucky when i brought them as there where so many frogs in the tank i just told the the guy to get me the ones that look the nicest, I will try and get photos of them both so you can see the diffence in there body shape and size, Im not holding out to much hope if the do lay eggs as they will probably be eaten by marius and the tadpoles are meant to be really hard to raise, glad to see that there taking food from the turkey baster i havnt bothered i just feed them at night when the lights are out and marius is a sleep. Have you seen them float around at the top of the tank yet all streched out its so funny, i thought they where both dead the first time they did it.

Oh dont! I have seen it once or twice, they like lurkking on the bottom more. Whats more when one did that at the top Calcifer did not like as the said frog did not get out of his way! LOL. Any pics great!

Maybe he's developed a split personality  I had a betta that would flare at a nerite snail all the time and as soon as I got a new pen pot on my pc desk he took to flaring at that instead. I tried moving it further and further away and in the end I had to hide it completely

He may well have a split personality jennybugs lol. he isn't doing it today he is being his normal self.

Trying to get photo's for you lilacamy but there hanging around the back of tank in plants, you can only see one there little faces poking out from the leaves. I think im going to have to be patient.
