 Well ive had my tank for about 3 months my tank finished cycling and everything was great the paramiters were great and my levels were zero it was time for something..so my boyfriend picked me up a peppermint shrimp and a chocolate chip starfish.. now the shimp seems to be doing fine and i read some where that the starfish curls its legs up to catch food..is he always supposed to be like this? he moved around quite alot last night and is now at ththe top of my tank..

May want to post this in the salty section :) but to offer some potential help here, what have you been feeding your star fish?

yea your right i didnt look very carfully when i was reading along the topic lines lol.. well i have a special blend of "food" i got from the place i got the starfish. IT has a blend of shrimp, octumpus, and a bunch of other things in it and they said that should be good for it, they said that itd also eat the alge and the copepods in the tank...along with my peppermint shrimp, i mean hes moved around alot since weve had him and i noticed he was kinda curled when i got him, liek not completely curled up but just legs curled up, hmmm

You really need some fast help in the saltwater department. If you have never had a saltwater tank you must do some reading and posting of questions real fast.

www.saltwaterfish.com is the site you must get onto. They have tons and I mean tons of info and very experienced folks there to help you. Do go there ASAP

But back to your tank, no starfish I mean no starfish should be put into any tank until the tank is at least 6 months old minimum. Second your salinity for inverts must be 1.025. Do you have a salinity reader?? You must have one of these.

What size of tank is this??

What else do you have in there right now??

My recommendation to you is to return that starfish and wait till your tank is older and you will get that from the folks at saltwater.com

I have been in the saltwater hobby for 4 yrs now, but by no means an expert and I am learning all the time.

Saltwater unlike Freshwater requires alot of education and patience.

I would be glad to help you if you want, let me know.
