Im working on leveling the cabinet my 10g tank is going on but the top isnt flat and slightly off level. i know you can put styrofoam under rimless tanks to help even them out but what can i do about this regular 10 g 2 corners ar touching and 2 arent . and if i can put strofoam can i just use a foam core like project board? The kind that has paper on both sides with like half inch of foam in the middle? Im not sure where to get packing styrofoam sheets but the foam core board i can easily get at walmart or the dollar store

You can use anything solid under the tank but use a thicker piece of polystyrene to prevent the glass resting on the hard surfaces. Most pet shops sell polystyrene sheets to go under tanks and normally suggest using 1 sheet only. But you can have 2 sheets under a tank. Just tape the 2 sheets together so they don't move when you put the tank on them and away you go.

If they don't have polystyrene sheets big enough for your tank just buy a slightly bigger sheet and use a fine bladed knife to cut the foam down to size. If possible, you want a little bit of foam sticking out around the edges of the tank.

A word of warning. If the stand is not level and the tank is sitting on an angle, the polystyrene foam will gradually get squashed on one side and the tank will sit on an angle. This can put a bit more pressure on the lower side and there will be more chance of the base cracking. However, with small tanks there is less chance of them cracking because there isn't that much water in them.

I leveled the tank fairly well it required cutting away a Chunk of baseboard on 2 walls and using a 1"×3" piece of wood behind it because the wall isnt straight and then i had to shim the 2 front corners but its fairly level now. Unfortunately the top is still not totally flat

This is a serious issue and needs resolution. A tank must never not sit even on the support with all four corners on the support.. The easiest solution is to get a piece of plywood or particle board, at the very least 1/2 inch thick, preferable 3/4 or even 1 inch, and make sure it is longer and wider than the tank frame. This can be 1/2 inch or more, but you also must make sure the plywood/particle board sits fully across the support, i.e., the dresser top. Styrofoam or similar can go under the tank frame all around, but the plywood/particle board is essential.

The weight of water even in a 10g (which is about 100 pounds) will shift the tank frame and break the seal if the entire frame is not adequately supported. Plywood is ideal as it allows the tank to "sink into" the wood.

I can look and see if the hardwear store has a scrap piece they usually sell off cuts for a couple dollars. i did end up buying a 1/4 inch sheet of foam board because i couldnt find the polystyrene that i will double up it is sturdy but flexible so it should take the pressure off for now.
The actuall imperfections in the top only leave maybe a 1/16 " gap so its very small. Im only test filling for now because we are getting the fish saturday.
And yes i have cycled media and prime unfortunately i may not have the air pump and sand till tuesday if i have to order them im waiting to see what the lfs prices are first im also ordering wood

Put the foam board under it. I cut a full sheet to fit the cabinet, then peiced together a second sheet with the scraps and duct tape, and then taped those together so its about 3/4 of an inch thick. its not rocking anymore the tank is still empty so we will see once its full what happens but i think it will be ok
