Hello Again

Are spray bars any good???

Will it work and a standard jewel internal bio filter off an rio 180???
Is it worth it????

I have a Rena XP3 canister filter that had the option of spray bar or power jet and I just changed to the power jet because it seems to move much more water. Spray bars just don't make the water movement I wanted.

I used to have a 135 gallon tank with a home made spray bar that was made from pvc pipe painted green with holes drilled into it at regular intervals. I used two Magnum 350 canister filters which were plumbed into pvc elbows that curved over the top of the frame and into the tank.

I cut the end of the stock water return pipes off and rigged them to fit into the pvc elbows. The elbows at the end of the spray bar was not glued to the bar so that it could be cleaned if needed. The holes were drilled so that some of the water would spray across the surface while others sprayed towards the bottom. There was plenty of water turnover and a nice current which ran down the back of the tank.

sorry but that does not make sense!!!!!!! :-( :-( :-(

the water flow rate is the same for both items.

though the jet is designed to create more surface disruption, to aid gas dispersal, than the spray bar, the flow rate is controlled by, the filter

so unless you add a pump the amount of water moved is the same for both!

lol it may seem like the jet moves more water, but with a little thought you will see, that is impossible :good:

Pardon me... it moves more water in the direction that I want it to...
