Hi
i have always used the spray bar that came with my external filter but never thought about whether it was the right thing to use or not. at the moment itis stuck to the back of the tank and looks a little unsightly ... so my question is what do others think are the best mehtods for retuing water t the tank. I am also looking at an in line heater as that woudl help reall ycelan up te look of my tank?

cheers

Using a spraybar to aggitate the surface water of your tank can and is beneficial to the gas exchanges O2/CO2 entering and leaving the tank. So personally I would use one.

It also depends on what fish you keep and whether they want the faster current a filter can provide without a spraybar. If they don't, a spraybar diffuses the filter output giving a more gentle waterflow.

Hi thnx for both replies, i currently have fish as listed in my signature with a spray bar. I am thinkning of adding addtional filtratiojn ot the tank so may get an internal filter to supplimen the external CF1200
cheers

I use the spray from my eheim canister filters in all of my tank. The aggitation it creates will be very beneficial to your fish, especially since you have some larger ones like clown loaches. If you don't have surface movement you will find your fish gasping for breath or dead the next morning.

I use the spray bars as well. They do a much better job on the surface gas exchange. Get a power head if you want more water movement.

When I had fully planted tanks, I always pointed the spraybar AWAY from the surface. I wanted no surface agitation to help keep the CO2 I was pumping into the tank stay in there :)
