I got a Spotted Raphael Catfish a couple weeks ago and he's parked himself upside down under an archway decoration. I've literally never seen him move unless I disturb the decoration in attempt to MAKE him move. Does he come down and eat? Is he okay? He's always in the same position, his back facing the front of the tank, his face looking at the back wall. He's bumming me out with how boring he is. lol.

Raphael's are nocturnal. He probably comes out at night. If you wanted an exciting fish why did you get a Raphael?

I'd say it's relatively obvious that I didn't know that. lol.

Hence why you research before buying fish lol.

I have a striped for a few months, besides for if he's hiding near the side of the tank I might see him once a week or two weeks :D  I haven't actually seen him swim around the tank in maybe 3 months.  You can see the videos on youtube of large ones swimming around in daytime, I dont know if thats just because they're adults or... cause they're too far to fit into caves anymore heh

Yeah, and to be honest, I should know better. I've been doing tanks for a while. And I work at a pet store. We don't specialize in fish or anything, but we do have many types. I didn't know they were nocturnal. Oh well, it adds variety to the tank. It's not a huge blunder or anything... he just sleeps when I'd see him.
