i have a decent sized tank with the needed equipment and its split down the middle!!
so i have 2 different communitys going on:)

1st side- my male betta and a snail

2nd side- female betta and 3 male guppies

question is i want some more fish in ither side!! what can i put in each with my current fish?
i like fish that are different, and that have cool charecteristics etc.

any help, advice, photos appreciated!!

A sorority is an extra attractive and interesting tank. I have 7 dwarf petrocola Synos doing the Catfish dance in one corner of a 25 usg, while five various colored ladies try to figure out what the Synos are dancing about, work constantly on their pecking order, and beg for food whenever I come near. It is active and colorful. There is also an albino Plec. But he is staying in the shadows for now. He is still young. One concern I have with Bettas housed with other fish, besides the obvious which I am sure others will address, is that Betta are piggies and will grab everything they can and overeat, while their tankmates have to hussle to try to get something. The Synos are working well. They are not the least concerned about the Ladies, are not shy, and eat sinking disks, which they grab and hussle off to their caves.

could i put a gourami ((kissing)) in one side of my tank or not!!!?

I won't put a gourami in a tank with a betta. Even dwarf gouramis can be aggressive and are territorial. You could go with otto cats or cory cats. I don't know how big your tank is but both seem to do better in groups. The otto cat is great algae eaters and they don't get big fat and lazy. Most pleco get to big for anything smaller than a 20 gallon they are poop machines on top of it all but they would get along with a male betta. A couple of people have had good luck with endlers, they are a livebearer related to the guppy and can cross with a guppy but much smaller.

I don't think we know the actual size of the tank.

About dividers: Bettas are famous for getting by dividers and hurting or getting hurt along with the tank mate across the barrier.

BN Plec get about 5" and only eat greens. So Betta will not get fat and bloated on their food. There are also dwarf BN. Although a dirty fish they are also great tank cleaners.

I have promised pics of my Bettas, also my Cories, as soon as I get my camera cards unloaded, so I will include some of the sorority. I am not a great decorator though, so It won't go in Home and Garden.

No! to Gouramis and especially kissing Gouramis. Maybe a Honey, but then the Honey could get into trouble. You want a fish that can hold it's own but is not aggressive, won't get freaked if the Betta gets cranky, whose food won't make the Betta fat and constipated, and does not inhabit the same part of the tank and so compete with the Betta for territory. Since Betta own all they can see, it is not always an easy thing to find the right roomies.

well i put a plec** with my male n there fine with each other! and a dwarf gourami with my female betta and 3guppies, also fine!!! im wanting another male betta!! (crwontail) but have no where to put him now:(

my current betta must be happy in the new tank with his new mates as hes built a massiveeeeee bubble nest today bigger than any hes done before

any advice about anythings welcome

its actually a platy :) oops!!

errm the tank quite large but not massive unsure on size but its just square and big!! my fighter seems quite small in it!

also what are the best plants to put into the tank? and should i make some places for the fish to hidE?

same size as my community then around 15 gallon, how far along is it divided, you can use any plants, live or fake just make sure if there fake there material not plastic and a place to hiide like a cave of some sort would be good

If you are looking for live plants it will depend on how much light you have. For an average off the shelf light you can get by with hornwort java moss, java fern, marimo balls, water sprite, and duck weed. None need a lot of light and all will float. I do tie my java fern to either a rock or piece of drift wood. Sometimes I will tie down my java moss. That list of plants are pretty much no brainers. You can plant water sprite or let it float and the fish love to hide in the roots. No Co2 or fertilizers really needed and can be grown with less than perfect light. If you plant on fake plants make sure you get silk and now plastic so the bettas won't damage their fins. They love to play WIF (will I fit).
