Hi,

Just wondering if anyone would know what could be wrong with my fish (spiny boxfish approx 2.5 inchs long). There is nothing visably wrong with him but every so often it seems that there is something bugging him and he will violently shake or wriggle as if he is trying to shake something off. During this action he will dart from one side of the tank to the other. It has been going on for the last few days.

I would be very grateful if someone could help me out here because i don't know if there is something up

Thanks in advance.

what's the water parameters? Is he rubbing up against stuff like he's tryin' to get something off (Flashing)? Ammonia could be too high :/

Hi, ammonia is just a little to high, im feeding less now.

There is something else now, on his fins and skin there seems to be little white stuff.

The best way to describe it is like dandruff you get in your hair but it doesnt move when he shakes, its attached to him.

If anyone could help me out with this i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

sounds like white spot, he could of got it from being stressed from the high ammonia, have you done a big water change aswell to help dilute the ammo, try to get your water stable and clear and he might fight the white spot himself :)

I had a porcupine puffer did the same thing a he ended up dying a few days later.I only had him a month. I was told that he probably had a bacterial infection.

I actually watched him shake violenly then puff up and then the light in his eyes just went out, and that was the end of him.

My wife and I realy loved that fish RIP E.T. we called him.

Have not replaced him yet. :(
