We recently at the LFS I work at got a shipment of Spinosissum(sp?) cichlids. I have no clue what they are, and would appreciate any info. EA. Size, Aggression, omnivore/carnivore ECT. Thanks!

spinos are a great fish, I have had a group of 4 in the past in one of my 75s. they are a central american cichlid get to be about 4 inches max, about as peaceful as they come, and have the unique trait of hanging their fry from floating plants much in the same way that bettas hang threir fry from the bubble nest.

EDIT:

I can't remember if they are still Archocentrus or if they got moved over to cryptoheros, when they reorganized the classification of many of the archocentrus species, though it seems that after a couple of years of stability they are really going at it again and will probably by the end of this year have turned all the groups around for the next couple of years

Cool. I figured they were peaceful cause we have them in with our Red Hook Silver Dollars. Awesome fish, nice size and temperment. Are they territorial? Like what size tank MIN would you recommend?

a heavily planted 30 gallon with floating plants, a couple rock caves and drift wood would do for a group of 4. you could also add a group of cories to scoot around the bottom of the tank. I would stay away from tetras and such in the tank but with cories, a BN pleco, and a group of 4 spinos the tank should be active enough.
