My betta is speeding across the surface of the water from one side of the tank to the other. He makes this loud splashing noise when he does this. I've never seen him swim this fast before, is something stressing him out? What's wrong

I've only noticed my betta doing this a few times. Mainly just after I turn the lights off. There might be something wrong, or he might just be venting off some steam. When mine does it, he'll either do it until he bowls himself into another fish or until he runs out of steam and then he'll go back to his favourite leaf and sleep :S

My ammonia levels are 0ppm, my nitrite and nitrate levels are low because I do small partial water changes everyday to ensure the levels are very low. He doesn't get stressed out from the water changes because he swims up to my hand. I have the heater on at 30*C (80*F) at all times, and his 3g tank is filtered.
