Ok as some of you may be aware my first attempt at breeding bettas didnt go too well earlier this week as my male ate his fry just after they had hatched!

I decided to give it a go and introduced one of my other females to my other betta I had her next to him for the last couple of days so yesterday afternoon I let her go in his tank as he had started on his nest! At first I thought things werent going to work as all yesterday he kept chasing her round the tank and flaring at her! Then to my suprise this morning they actually started to spawn! The first hour produced no eggs at all but they just continued! They started at around 8.30am and are still going strong now! There are at least 10-20 eggs being released at each embrace!

It's actually interesting to watch them embrace as it is nothing like I expected! I was expecting something that looked rough but it is actually quite graceful how they do it! It is strange though to watch her in a trance as she floats to the surface and looks dead but it doesnt last long!

Hopefully in a couple of days I will be able to post about having a succesfull batch of healthy fry! I just had to post my good news! :D

Thanks! I hope you manage to breed yours! So far both my males seem to be gentle at spawning! I actually cant believe how easy it is to get them to spawn! I wish the rest of the breeding was as easy! I've never tried before so this will be a very big learning curve!

It was strange watching at first as there were no eggs produced to begin with! I will hopefully post pics of the parents soon when I can find my dads camera and bits to go with! I wanted to get pics of them in an embrace but it doesnt look like it will happen this time round!
