i am thinking of breeding my bettas and i was wondering if this list sounded correct

male betta
female betta
breeding tank (5 gallon)
heater
light
plants and also i have done alto of research but i was just wandering what i have to do to spawn my bettas and i fyou have anything that i need to add to the list plz tell me. I know alot of you will probaly try and talk me out of it but i have made up my mind

You will also need numerous tanks or jars for keeping the Betta fry in when they are big enough to be sexed as well as a way of keeping the jars/tanks heated.
You will also need to contact an lfs to see if they would be willing to take the fish from you once they are old enough, otherwise you will be stuck with loads of Bettas.
A spare tank is also needed to keep the female in once the male and female has spawned.
I won't try and talk you out of it but feel that a lot more research needs to be done before you attempt to breed Bettas. ;)

thanks for the quick responses and stang1 i am collecting jars and i was wondering if a 2 litre milk bottle would do the trick cause they are plastic and i am goin down to my lfs this afternoon to get my supplies and also to see if they will take some babys.I have already found a couple of people that want some as dont want to make a profit out of it i just want to have a bit of fun breding the fish and then looking after the babies

well guess wat i have priced evrything and it is not gonna cost as much as ithought and my lfs is will to take the bettas of me when they are bigger and i ahve all my containers ready

well i have now collected enough jars and also a grow out tank but i have one more question there is this fry food down at the lfs they are pellets and it reckons that it can be fed to the fry straight away also i just have to find a female does the female have to be a crowntail

i have just found this website can someone tell me if the information on it is right majestic bettas

Live food is best for the fry. I would get a microworm culture going. You can probably find some people on here looking to sell (or give) you some. That food is best for them.

Good luck!

Oh, and the female does not have to be a ct, but keep in mind your babies will be mutts. Not that I, personally, have anything against that. I love my mutts! :)

i can sell you some worms if you want. just email me girl4God812002@yahoo.com

i would also suggest live foods. i made the msitake of no live foods and all mine died except 2.

what sort of livefoods? and how where do you get them? my female laid eggs yesterday morning n there currently in the nest being looked after by my male :good:

gordi, they need microworms, vinegar eels, or baby brine shrimp. These almost never can be found at pet shops and you have to order them online. I suggest you do so quickly before the fry starve  you really should have been prepared, cultures get a while to start.
