So I decided I wanted to plant up my little 20 gal as a starter since the rest of my tanks would take a lot more experience and knowledge to become a good established planted tank. The main issue I face is how do i get more light into the tank. Currently i just use a average 18" t8 bulb. The lfs guy tells me i need more to grow any carpet style plants. Any suggestions?

Is it possible to just find a HO t5 18" bulb

T5 bulbs wont fit in the fitting you have for a T8 bulb, thats what i thought so i went out and spent about £15 on a bulb only to find it didnt fit!

LED's are quickly becoming very popular in planted tanks :) aslong as you get the right type of LED they should be fine

will you be dosing ferts and CO2?
