Spare 10 Gallon, Need Ideas

Thanks for the suggestion on the neons fishwatcher. I've had ghost shrimp before and they live a long time if conditions are right. The females will be constantly having babies and some will survive if you have enough plants in the tank for them to hide in.

They mass breed/stock these little guys to a point to where I'm sure disease is present in some of them before you buy them....so that's a possibility too. And you're right.....it doesn't matter as much as they are so cheap. ;)

Qays: I'm also curious as to why you would say skip the ADFs? That's what the community in the tank is gonna be centered around.

If you guys think its too much bioload I'll think of something else but I'm definately keeping the frogs and shrimp. ;)

I had 2 adfs in my 10-gal tank. They did fine, I just had to make an extra effort to be sure they got food. The other fish seemed to know when one of them were getting close and would run up and snatch it away, even after the fish were well fed. Crazy buggers!
I think as long ad you stock it slowly and keep up the water changes the bioload should be fine.

What I was planning on doing was using a turkey baster and target feeding them. I've read they don't see very well, and on top of this aren't smart eaters at all. They just lunge at whatever happens to be in front of them.

Makes you wonder how they survive in the wild. I had one in the 55 gallon once and saw him lunge at one of the apple snails. Didn't even hurt the snail....just scared him good. lol
