I'm not going to bore you all with more repeated CO2 setup information etc... All I'm wanting to know is:-

I've just bought a Jewel Vision 180 with the view to do a planted tank, it was 2nd hand and came with a few 'inmates' already so with that in mind,

1) What brand CO2 system is best to go for?
2) For the size tank is it better to go for pressurised or the other kind?
3) Any online stores in UK recommended for purchasing CO2 systems?

Thanks

what thats like 50 us gallons

i just got a tank around that size and

im going togo planted like all my other

tanks. im just going to use 2 nutrafin co2

units with mine.

1) Seriously dont bother with a branded pre-made kit buy all the bits seperate and do it for half the price.
2) Dont bother with a yeast system on a tank of that size its a waste of time in my opinion, just go with pressurized if you are serious about the planted tank. Its far less hassle once its all set up.
3) If you decide to go for the seperate bits then I will dig out some links for you, if you go for a kit you might aswell try eBay or something.

Thanks alot, ok, pressurised sounds good but where do I get one for a good price. I saw jimboo's thread and am aware there are a couple of main brands - is there any brand that is better, if so could you explain why!

Thanks again!

i got my pressurized Red Sea Turbo on ebay for $15 U.S. That comes with reactor body, lid, diffusion pump, and venturi. from there i think you can add your own contents to make co2. Mine came with 2 new refills from red sea so im just using them for now but will look into making my own when these are done. Hope this helps.

That sound smore like a yeast system to me than a pressurzed setup?

Build your own, get seperate regulator and CO2 cylinder, thats pretty much all you need apart from the CO2 tubing and some sort of diffuser.

If you talking about the £100 kit on ebay, that comes with pH probe and solenoid, far more that you actually need.

There is a JBL cylinder on ebay that'll prob go for about 20-30quid then all you need is a reg, and these are only £50 new so you've saved quite a bit of money already. This sort of stuff is always being sold, just keep an eye out.

Read my first post and what Themuleous said, i cant sress enough how much a wast eof money these premade kits are!

All your goin to need is the following:

Reg: £50
Bubblecounter: £12
Tubing: £2
Diffuser (optional) £10-15?
Gas bottle(rent a big one for about £15 and it will last you over a year easy.)

Total £80 ish plus Diffuser if you want one.

yea, cheapest pressurised I've seen is £100+!! Any lower offers??!!!

Surely a diffuser is one thing that isn't optional? How else is the Co2 going to get into the water?

Well you can just run it into your canister filter and it diffuses nicely.

Also if you have a powerhead you can run the CO2 output into the Venturi, I used ot use this method on my Juwel filter before I had a canister and it worked nicely.

Didn't think of that, good point! :)
