Well last week i got mt new 47 gallon tank and at the end of last week i ordered everything i need from the internet (as its cheaper) well I over the week everything has arrived. Lat night we had the stand so we decided to set it up. its a metal stand (19 inches high) from glovers aquatics. we slotted all the pieces together making sure they were tight. stood back to admire our handiwork and realised its not right !!! Its only 12 inches wide instead of 15!!! We then struggled to take it apart and one strut is now stuck and will not be budged!!

I phoned the company only to be told "sorry our secretary isn't here today so our computers are switched off can you phone back tommorrow! "meaning i won't get a new stand until at least Tuesday!! plus they sent the equivalent heater instead of the one i ordered !

that really sucks,

anmd cant they even switch a damn computer on? ???? :dunno:

Exactly , the guy on the phone sounded completey lost I think they need to improve their customer service skills at glovers aquatics

On the other hand a differnt online company called aquatic online are very good quick delivery and they send the correct things. (see the Welsh are good at somethings!!)

And how are we supposed to get this stupid strut thing off the frame? So far brute force doesn't work!

Ohhh its ruined my thursday now as my "New Fish tank" weekend :X and all the fish are acting funny because they know they have a new tank coming!! i swear!!

I love that excuse they gave you. He should have just said, " I don't feel like dealing with you and I will make no attempt to help you." :grr:

Have you tried using a wrench yet?

Good luck aloaring. :)

Thanks for your support guys very much appreciated you two are always so supportive  I have now decided its for the best as this weekend i can concentrate on preparing the decor:
I have a pipe cut length ways (Half pipe!!) and plan to glue pieces of slate around the outside of it as a disguise. :sly:
Once its set up we will use slate as a kind of backround as well and maybe diguise the internal filter with it (my boyfriends dad is a roofer so slate will be abundant and free)And then put some bog wood and my plants in there!!

And tommorrow i phone Glovers aquatic at 9am and will talk to Sylvia (!) and demand a new stand and that they pay for all delivery costs!! :hey:

Forgot to tell you guys the keyholes laid eggs again but they turned white and were eaten. :/ Could my male be infertile? what are the water specifics for keyhole breeding? :look:

Do a google / yahoo search for the sale of good act and if they get funny quote the name of it to them.

You can also threaten to inform trading standards, but I don't hink you'll need to go this far. Usually when you get the right preson they will be very helpful and resolve your problems immediately (of course they should pay the postage for delivering the wrong item).

Good luck, keep us posted.

Well finally got hold of the person who nows at this company and i explained my problem so they went and checked the stands in the stock room, turns out all of the 15 inches are 12, their supplier has sent them the wrong ones. So they've put in a new order which will take 7 days to get to them and then 2 days to get to me and they will pick up the the old stand all free of charge ! So problem will be solved just have to be patient!! :/
I have looked elswhere for the stand but other places don't do the low height stand (19inches)
So I have to wait ....the agony of it!!

At least you got it taken care of.
Be sure to open the box and make sure it's the right one before the delivery guy leaves.

I hate waiting also. :S

To answer your Keyhole question: From what I've read, Keyholes like ph at 6.5 and temp 75-77F.

I've also read that they like to lay their eggs on flat rock.

What are you feeding them? :dunno:

Glovers are based down the road from me, let me know if the stand doesn't arrive...

I'll put a brick through their window for you

Update: Grrrrrrr  rang them again today and they said they are having trouble getting their supplier to deliver , he won't deliver with just two items he wants a whole van full! And they hope he'll deliver by next thursday!

So i talked it over with my boyfriend about whether we should just cancel it and try and find a stand elsewhere. But this shop is the only one we seen that does metal stands to the dimensions we want 48L x 15W x 19H and if we ordered it elswhere we would have to wait for it to be delivered. So we are going to have to be patient, very patient! :look: :look:

But if we don't get it next week i am going to cancel it and we'll just have to get one of the taller metal stands for our tank

So Frustrated we have all the equipment ready for our fishtank and i just wnat to set it up!!

Sorry to hear this is happening to you. It's so frustrating when you have plans and a schedule in mind that isn't able to happen the way you planned. I hope it all works out for you, and soon! ;)

im even frustrated

damn them, why do they have to be so rude ????

Thanks for your support guys, good to know there is somewhere to voice my frustrations!! :p

Is this Glovers in Stoke - On - Trent???

Your bad luck if it is. There's one decent guy there, named Graham. Tell him the Nottingham Discus guy has put you on to him.

The problem here is , the guy who owns the company's son manages the place. He sells fish but he don't keep em. So more often than not, customers get ripped off.

Do NOT buy fish from these people !!!!! I've had numerous dead on arrivals, and non i've brought from them have survived the trip home. The guy who owns the place took great exception from me telling him not to oxygenate the bag too much when i brought gourami's. He gave me some crap about working with fish for 20 years, yet did'nt even know gourami's are labrynth fish (excuse spelling it's early)

Good luck m8, i work down the road too, so if it is Stoke i'll brick his windows too lmao

Ade :)

Have you considered making your own stand?? You might be set on a metal stand but it's surprisingly easy to knock something together. I made a stand for my new 48*18*24

ft2.jpg

Its made of MDF, some skirting and 2" square timber. Wood cost about £15 from B&Q. Probably all in you could do it easily for £30. The best part is if you decide on a size and have the dimensions written down B&Q will use thier big cutter to do it all for you for free. It then becomes like a flat pack kit that you screw and glue together.

Just an idea but with a bit of common sense and care it wouldn't take more than a few hours
