i was checking on my girls today and noticed that my second oldest female has a sort of sore/wound on her side that is afew millimeters wide. its almost like a cookie cutter was taken to her side, but didnt create a divet where the wound is. instead the flesh that is in the center of the wound is white, afew of the scales are risen up, what you can see inside the wound is red. she has also developed lumps on her sides. she is still eating well and moving around without any problems. im just worried, iv never had any of my fish (betta or other) have anything like this happen. at the moment i cant get any pictures of it or any water stats. i dont know if it makes any difference but i added bettaspa two days ago and she is in a 15 gallon sorority tank. does anyone have any idea what might be going on with her or how to treat her??

Put her in a separate tank=hospital tank.

If she is eating and such treat her with BettaFix. At this point I am guessing that it is a bite. It may be infected. Put her in a separate container (it can be small) and keep the water very clean. If there is not a bad infection the BettaFix and clean water will give her enough help for her to recover. If it gets worse we need to progress to medication. Maracyn Plus would probably be a good one for this. Actually I would probably just start with Maracyn Plus. But I have it on hand.

How many are in the sorority? How big? This kind of infection can progress to fin rot or popeye or some other malady quickly if not treated. The worse it gets the harder to cure and the heavier meds that must be used. The meds themselves can be hard on the fish.

Betta Spa is fine and may actually help.
