I never thought about looking up lice, will have to have a look about for that, also from what I have read blackspot only occurs on the parrot cichlids, atleast I think it does lol thanks alot

wheres wilder lol thats the person to ask sure she (i think) would be happy and able to help

Had a quick look around for you, not sure how helpful this will be. Black spot Definition: Black spot is a disease caused by the larvae of parasitic digenetic flukes, Cercaria and Metacercaria. This type of parasitic infestation is most common in wild caught fish and pond fish. Affected fish will have small black spots measuring about 2 millimeters in diameter, found anywhere on the fish's body and fins.

It is typical for African Cichlids, however, to have little black spots, especially around their mouths. These are scabs, which have resulted from digging in the gravel or from fighting, and should not be mistaken for black spot disease.

yeah I looked up black spot just incase but it wasn't it so guess I will just keep looking lol thanks anyway

It’s not a fluke or fish lice and it doesn't look like black spot disease either. However, that is the closest thing it can be unless you have some driftwood in the tank. In which case the fish might actually have a splinter.

I usually always do have bogwood in my tank but it's just the fact it went away and appeared in exactly the same place again lol, should I try and remove it???

If it went away and then came back it isn't black spot. It could be colouration but it does look like there is something in the fish like a splinter. I would probably leave it. You will stress the fish if you try to catch it and remove the black spot.

I agree with colin I would leave him be for now.
Have you taken a good look with a magifying glass.

Thats what I was gonna do but when you want a magnifying glass you can't find one, you know how it goes lol, I'll see if I can track one down.

My magifying glass hasn't got a handle it fell off lol.
Any change to the black spot.
