My fish collection is rather strange lol, from dwarf cichlids to oscars, jd, tp! I had a spare tank after the loss of my last texas, so I thought angels (well my 5 year old had a say as angels are his favourite fish)

Using heavier wood to weigh down the sticks for the time being, soon as they are waterlogged I can scape it a little better, but the angels seem to like it, they are only tiny at the moment.

Looks nice. Angels will like a good wood arrangement. I've got some wood weighed down with a bag of gravel at the moment, as it doesn't quite seem to want to stay down.

Looking good. As all your tanks do :) Where do you get your wood from? I'd like to get something with a more interesting appearance than the 1ft chunky wood sold everywhere. Something 3 or 4 foot long, a decent forking branch etc. I'm also a bit cautious of putting wood I've scavenged from the park.
Cheers :)

All my wood is scavanged Dougie :) this tank has all oak in. I go off and collect a few twigs/sticks I do have some larger branches now in other tanks. Just soak what you collect in the bath in very hot water. (straight out of the tap is ok) and get a little dish brush or nail brush and give it all a good scrub. I can get away with this because I clean the bath lol lol. Then I leave it to dry in the house and remove the bark (if I want to) in the angels tank I left the bark on because you get a white fluffy sort of growth for a few weeks. Cichlids and plecs absolutely LOVE this and go bonkers over it. Try and pick oak or alder branches/wood I have never had problems with those and they do release tannins. Never put pine in, its too sappy!

Angels will love that, are you going with any plants?

And stop teasing and get some pics of the angels :)

Great! Got my eye on a cracking 4 ft dead oak branch at work. It's still on the tree so I'll have to ask the Grounds Crew to cut it down for me. The bark's already fallen off, so I don't have that to worry about.
Thanks for the advice (yet again) Star
:)

Angel, I have a couple of plants in there a little fern and java moss & fern, because the tank is in the conservatory I am not using any artificial light so plants might not do well. And just for you some pics of my little ones :)

Dougie: any questions or worries about your wood pm me :)

You got some real beauties there Star!

thanks flute :)

angel, no buddies for them its just a pure angel tank :) well thats the plan anyway, but you know me most likely something else unexpected is going to end up with them!

Hopefully IF I have sexed them right, with 4 males and 3 females their might be some additions :), but they are a bit too small to be 100% sure of the sex yet
