I know you get a lot of these threads so I apologise but I would be really interested to hear your suggestions.

Ok, here's the deal, I'm about to send these last 8 Juvenile Kribs off to the lfs within a couple of weeks and will return my ageing Krib stud to my two foot tank (his mate died over the summer :( ) and I don't want to continue with breeding until I have the space and money to buy bigger tanks, it's not really fair on the fry and my lfs is unwilling to take them below 2 inches. My tank setup is; a pH bordering on the acidic side of 7 (usually, although last test I did it appeared to be about 7.5), sand on top of flourite substrate, planted around the edges and back with most of the front and centre open for swimming and the only ornament I intend to have will be a cave for my male Krib.

So if you could, I would like to hear your suggestions on what I could keep with him, I'm undecided at the moment myself as to what I want.

My first thought was a school of Tiger Barbs and I posted in the relevant forum here about it but I have found that it is suggested that you do not keep Tiger Barbs in tanks smaller than 30 gallons as this is not really adequate space for them to live a stress free and happy life.

So here is a little bit about my tastes so your not on a wild goose chase. ;)

My interests in fish:

I'm not really after anything flashy, I don't go in for the whole 'wow' effect when you see a fish. Just my taste I guess, nothing wrong with it but not for me.

I love fish that are very entertaining to watch. Hence my original preference for the Tiger Barbs as they spend a lot of time establishing and reasserting the pecking order within the shoal.

Lastly I dont want to get another Dwarf Cichlid to stick in the tank as I feel personally that a 2 foot tank is only big enough for one territory and I don't want to upset my male Krib in his old age.

Apart from that, have at it! Can't wait to hear what you all come up with. :)

I don't mean to seem like I'm implying I'm lazy and not gonna do research, just taking the easy way out to have you tell me what to keep. I just want to see what kinds of fish really intrigue other people and that would be compatible with my Krib in the tank I have. I am very enthusiastic when it comes to Kribs after keeping them, I love them and their personalities, so I'm curious to see what species tickle other people in the same way.

EDIT: I guess where I say that I like fish that are entertaining it may be a little ambiguous. I just want to make clear that I do not mean that I like to watch fish fight or be aggressive toward each other when I say that. What I mean is that I like fish that are not reclusive and shy. I know Tiger Barbs are semi-aggressive but when kept in the right conditions it is more like a group of 'lads' breaking each other's balls than any serious aggression which was one of the reasons I decided against it due to my tank size. I don't want to cause any fish undue stress just for my own viewing pleasure. Just a little self-conscious when rereading it of how it might be interpreted.

EDIT2: Also, my apologies if the general consensus is that I should have posted this in the Krib forums, but I thought I might get a wider variety of responses in this forum. I'll be happy to move the thread or if a forum admin feels it should be and does so then that is fine. Perhaps I should have put this in tropical chit-chat, again my apologies, but I guess I still consider myself one and see this as a newbie topic.
