I have some guppies(young 2-3months) in my new tank(no I didn't let it cycle properly). Anyway some of the guppies are making small foamy bubbles round the edges of the tank(not alot), is this normal?? They general seem ok, quite happy darting about the tank in the plants etc.

Second - the filter I've got doesn't make bubbles for aeration it's more like a flowing waterfall is this still ok for aeration??

How many gallons or litres is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
How long has the tank been set up?

Any signs of laboured breathing, darting, erratic swimming, excess mucas, flicking and rubbing.

Wwelcome to the forum Archie.
A few bubbles around the sides of a tank is not all that strange.
Your filter will be fine for aerating your water. What is really needed for good aeration is that the water near the tank surface not stagnate. That can be prevented by introducing bubbles that break up that water layer or simply by providing good circulation of the water in the tank. Almost any properly functioning filter will perform the mixing that is needed.
