so, my tank's bottom is 96x18, and i was thinking of getting some kribs for it
right now there are 24 tiger barbs and 6 julii cory, and an rtb in it
i don't want to get breeding pairs of kribs mostly because i can't find anywhere that'll take the fry

i was wondering though, since i don't want to breed them, what sex should they all be, all male, all female, or should they only be put in tanks as breeding pairs?

also, would it be possible to put 4 or so of them in there, or would they all fight with each other?

i'm also curious as to how well they'd get along with the other bottom dwellers, as i don't want any bullied and dead fish, and would they go with various types of tetra, or would those get killed off?

i haven't been able to find anything anywhere online about this sort of thing, its all been real helpful when it comes to breeding a single pair, and water quality, and how to setup the tank, but i can't find anything along the lines of what i'm asking, so i was wondering if you guys could help me out

would i be better off trying the same thing, except with 4 keyholes or rams instead?

Depending on the species, kribs can range from slightly aggressive to very. Since you don't want them breeding or bothering other fish I think Keyholes would be the best cichlid alternative.

if you are set on keeping the cichlids, i would get some of the more peaceful species. l. caeruleus, i. springelae are good choices.

wouldn't they harass my other fish?

There are exceptions, and barbs can handle themselves, but as a general rule I would recomment avoiding any mbuna with community fish. Even the most peaceful of them is still very aggressive compared to community fish. Plus, where a krib would define a territory in the tank, mbuna territory would be the tank.

If you don't want cichlid breeding going on in your tank then I would suggest going with something besides kribs. The main reason people get kribs is that they are so easy to breed! Try rams instead, they are more colorful and not so territorial. Although kribs aren't even that territorial, they are mostly mock chargers. They pretend that they are tough but they are just big softies.
