Hello all, not really new to fish keeping but new to the forum thought i would yell out hello in this forum first and post some pics and ask some questions because i'm having a hard time with my tank every now and then. Think i blinded my fish with the flash so hopefully more wont die.

Ok, my 55 Gal Tank, ignore, the pics in the back, had no where else to put it up, leaving for college soon so i didn't want to make it a huge deal with the surrounding area.
and it is kinda dirty b/c after the water change i had to head to work so i didn't have much time to clean up the mess i made.

and well can't see much of it in the picture but its foggy now, i just did a water change and killed two tiger barbs and two bala sharks, got both 2 days ago. I had the filters that hang over the top of the tank, and it still got cloudy, i bought a canister filter and it helped a little but its still a little foggy, its a marinland. Is there anything i can do to make it stop being so foggy? Also with my canister filter i can't seem to get all the air pockets out every now and then it would sound as if air was being sucked in instead of my water, and its not being touched by the bubbles.

Next is what happened to my Loach? he got like fungus growing on his mouth, was cool b/c he would swim full speed and dig into the sand then poke his head out.

And thats it, well for now, thanks for the help in advance

Not sure what's wrong with that loach, but he looks bad - I'd post that picture in emergencies, there's a couple very knowledgeable people that frequent that forum. As for your plants, I noticed some silver dollars in there, so those are probably a lost cause.

I have a question: What's the black-ish catfish int he first picture, just above the silver dollars and gouramis? I can't see it that well, but it looks like it's an iridescent shark. If it is, they get about an order of magnitude bigger than pet stores usually claim they do - I'd keep a close eye on him, as he'll get big enough to eat everything else I see there (even though some of them are big fish!).

Edit: Also, I love your angel - the one without the black spots. Looks a lot like my two, only mine have a lighter gold instead of orange.

Sadly the loach died the next day, so i don't know what was up with him. yes it is a iridescent shark, well enough i got my bother that has a 150g that he will take once it gets bigger, he had one too but he ran against the side so hard he bent his backbone, funny looking but sad. and yea my favorite angel is this one.

I've also ordered me some Java moss, you think i should get rid of the silver dollars if you think they might eat the stuff?

Thanks for the help.

think that was maybe mouth fungus the loach had, it's not pretty and usually kills them if you don't catch it, think it can spread to the other fish to so just keep watch.

To purge the air from the filter it usually works to just tilt it this way and that so the impeller can move the air through the filter. I have a C series myself and it is very quiet with no air noise at all.Its been set up about 6 months and I don't recall if its one of the ones I had to work a bubble out of when it was first set up.
