It really does. I was getting quite frustrated this morning when she was fighting everything I said. And last night too. I got her hooked on tanks! I warned her about mts. She says it won't happen cause she still lives at home. I told her her parents would catch it too! :D

I can really see why she didn't listen to me. The bumblebee gobies are soooooo cute
Actually some bumblebee gobys are OK in fresh water, I have two who are thriving in a community with chocolate gouramis, rtbs, panda corys, a baby angel fish, 2 guppy boys, a bn. I think that's all. There are two kinds, one is fine all thier lives in fresh water, the other only while they are juvies.

Here is a link to an explanation:

Thanks for the link. I actually read it earlier today when I told her they were brackish. I think she would be better off returning them because the upside down catfish may start thinking of them as lunch. I highly doubt these are the freshwater variety. I know the fish store that she got it from and they don't know much. Besides, she has male and female guppies in her tank and it is only 10G, so she will soon be even more overstocked. Especially since one of the guppies is already pregnant.

ouch! that might be a learning curve. I find the female guppys find birthing difficult, poor things, we had to help one girl, but she died.

Conversation with a girl at work :

HER: I have this gold fish and everytime I clean its bowl it swims weird for a day or 2

ME: how often do you clean the bowl

HER: when I can't see the fish, usually once a month

ME: is it the only fish in there

HER: no, there are 2 other goldfish

ME: so theres three fish?
HER: yeah, and a snail
ME: how do you clean the bowl
HER: I put the fish into a cup, drain all the water out, scrub the whole tank and replace all the gravel
ME: you don't need to replace all the gravel
HER: but its all dirty and yuck
ME: its meant to be like that. Its good bacteria for the fish
HER: but I don't want bacteria in there, thats why I bleach it

Thats paraphrased but it gives you an idea.

Most other people I work with talk about frying up my fish whenever I talk about them. Like "what did you eat for dinner last night, fried platies" Then tell me stories about a betta they got, in a small vase, with a bamboo plant, that died cause too much of the water evaporated, and all they say is "what else was I meant to do, I fed it three times a day"

I had my doubts about taking up fishkeeping again after a break of nearly 30 years (30 years wasted!). When I confided my qualms to my friends, several of them comforted me with some sort of variation on "oh well, they don't live very long anyway". And I was meant to find that reassuring?

My mu has a little 2 gal plastic all-in-one goldfish tank which is cleaned every couple of months or so, last time she was using a scourer and fairy washing up liquid, poor bastards.

Well, after cajoling, begging and pleading with her parents, my friend's mom and dad have settled on getting a 90G for the living room. I am going to show them how to do a fishless cycle, how to set up the tank etc... She also asked me to go with her to pick out stock once the cycle is done! I am sooooooo happy she finally listened to me and admitted the girl at the lfs really didn't know as much as she thought she did. Ain't life grand? :D

Congrats on getting her to sense! Her (and her fishies) will thank you for your help. ;)

One of her guppies got sick late last night. Earlier in the day she told me her water was cloudy. I told her to do a big water change, cause the guppy was laying on its side at the bottom of the tank. She did return the gobies, but against my advice got some dwarf neon rainbows to replace them. I haven't heard from her yet today to find out how they are doing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

EDIT: Her guppy died last night. Now one of the RN tetras is having issues. I warned her gosh darn it.
