This afternoon we took a trip to Amwell Aquatics to pick up the Congo puffer we had reserved. And what a little beauty he is! We've decided to name him "Slug". :D

On our way back from Amwell, we spotted another fish store and decided to have a look inside. It was actually a garden centre with an aquatics dept and it took us a while to find this tiny dark room with a few tanks.

Not expecting to find much of interest, we had a look and were surprised to find quite a few oddballs among which were some nice arowanas and knife fish. What caught Sir's eye though was a tank right at the end with some Golden Nuggets in. They were in good condition and amazingly priced at just £8.95 each!

Needless to say, we grabbed a couple. Here they are.

Mr Nugget didn't want to pose long:

Here he is in the net:

While we were there we also grabbed some tetras - 10 for £6 - to give the chacas a treat. They were appreciated. :D

Now he's gonna have an after-dinner nap:

And finally, here's Titch saying goodbye:

Looks great LadyMinion  , was the Garden Centre called Farnhem or something along those lines, I've gone past it a few times and keep meaning to go in but its always when we've had the fish in the car for a while already and want to get them home.

£8.95 for a goldnugget!!!

I so need to move further south!

Lovely plecs but they Chacas scare me! :(
Believe me, that's an abnormal price. I think they must have priced them at trade by accident.

The other lfs's near me usually charge between £25 and £30 for one.

The chacas are cute, but I certainly wouldn't want to be a tetra in their tank. :D

It was called Fordham Nurseries, sounds like we're talking about the same place. Very strange little place. Had a large range of Juwel and Fish R Fun tanks too as well as loads of accessories. If you're looking for an internal filter, they're selling fluvals at 50% off!

Your Arowana at Amwell was £50 by the way. :D

That congo puffer is awesome!! :hyper:

BTW-- do gold nugget plecs breed in captivity? If so-- I wish you guys luck. :D

At first I thought Slug was a Vaccum :S I think I'm being too crazee and I nearly scraemed when I saw that chaca eat the tetra up :look: BTW Lady or Sir Minion, is 10 medium feeder fish for $1.99 canadian and 50 small feeder fish for $2.99 a good price? Sorry if this is off topic but I just wanted to know

No idea, sorry.
One, we're not canadian and have no idea of the state of Canadian inflation, and two, you can't buy fish specifically as feeders in England where we live, so we have no idea what a good price for fedders in in any currency!

Glad to see the chaca's are doing well, do you need to net the neon in with the chaca's or can they catch them by them selfs now?

Lovely nuggets and the trade price is usually more than that, our's are tagged up at £34.95, 1 was really big and the others smaller for £20.

Interesting puffer you got there, loved the video of it!!

oh and our neons are cheaper :p 3 for £1

They reall are awesome fish, they bought them from the shop i work at!! Boy they have big gobs....

Check out CFC's fish index bit on them in the catfish section.

Great fish and pics as always  How come nobody said anything about that tetra  People got mad when you fed that crab to Martha :p
